It's been unusually poor weather in Victoria for this time of the year. Still, there are some redeeming features. This is the view from our back patio.

This is gorgeous. I'm a little fuzzy on where Victoria actually is in BC. Are you looking out at Vancouver Island?

Nope, that island is called Trial Island. Right under the rainbow is Port Angeles, Washington. Victoria is the capital of British Columbia - a government and tourist-based economy - located at the southern tip of Vancouver Island. We have extraordinarily good weather here normally. Most winters are without snow and shirtsleeve temperature for the locals. Now, if you were to come up from California you might find it a little cold, but this is a lovely place - it really is. We have a gardening climate rated as '9' in gardening books - the same as areas like the state of Georgia.

Hi Susan
I've come via Maxine at Petrona-- to say welcome to the blogosphere! I'm a new recruit too-- less than a week old and still getting the hang of it.
Good luck!

Thank you everyone for the kind welcome. The picture was taken at the door of our dining area. I love our view. Right now it's cruise ship season and giant liners go past daily. The Swiftsure sailboat races are imminent too and then we see literally hundreds of sailboats within shooting range! We'll be holding fire though.

I once met a missionary to the Kwakiutl who showed me some gorgeous pictures of Vancouver Island.
